Morning brought 8 inches of snow and sharp cracking sounds as trees in the neighborhood continued to break under the weight of the snow. These are a few trees in my yard that were spared a cold death.
And this is my beloved flowering pear tree -- or what was left of it. Such a sad sight to see.
Saturday was spent removing the limbs and cleaning up the mess.
The end of my flowering pear tree. Boo Hoo.
And this was my Globe Willow tree in the back yard. Many barbeques and picnics have been enjoyed under this tree during the hot summers. Many kids have climbed this tree and slept under it in the hammock. We even had family pictures taken under this tree a few years ago.
On Saturday, after the chain saw broke (and bit Steve's leg), we were rescued by Dave and Kyle Allen and their trustworthy chain saw. The willow was a huge tree and it took a couple of hours to saw it up. Thank you Allen Family!!!!
The end of the willow tree. Now we will use its wood to burn in our campfires when we go camping. No more parties under its shade, but it will cook our smore's and hotdogs this summer. Thanks Globe Willow. You were an awesome tree and we will miss you and your bird nests!!!
Guess it's time to go buy a couple of skinny little trees and plant them on the plantation! (I think we'll try a weeping cherry tree this time.)
